Watching a live, joining the stage, gifts and reports, hosting and stage layouts, the end-of-live recap and your live history.
Going live and watching lives
A live is a real-time broadcast. The host is on camera, viewers watch and comment, and the host can bring viewers up on stage to appear alongside them.
Watching
Lives are for members: you need an account to watch one. If you open a live without being signed in, Tubaar asks you to sign in or create an account first. A paid live shows its price before you enter; see Paid lives for how it is charged and refunded.
While watching you can:
- Comment. Comments appear to everyone, host included.
- React. Tapping the heart sends a burst everyone sees. Taps are batched, so tap as much as you like.
- Send a gift in Baar, if gifts are available to you. Gift the host, or tap a person on stage to gift that guest. On the web, double-click a person to gift them, and click their name to open their card.
Joining the stage
Up to 20 people can be on stage at once, host included.
Tap the raised-hand button to ask the host. While they decide you see Waiting for the host…. To withdraw, tap the hand button (or your waiting seat, if the stage shows one) and choose Cancel request.
The host sees your request with your name and picture and can accept or refuse it. If they refuse, you see Not this time. There's no limit on how many people can ask, but a request that isn't answered within 15 minutes ends with Request expired; you can simply ask again. Nothing happens to your camera or microphone until you're accepted.
When you're accepted you come on stage muted, with your camera off. Turning either on is your own decision: nobody can switch them on for you. Tap Leave at any time to go back to watching. The host can also remove you, or mute your microphone.
Reporting a live
Use the flag at the top of the screen, next to the LIVE badge. Only viewers see it: you can't report your own live.
Hosting
Start from the Live tab. Give the stream a title and a category, and you're on.
The first time, Tubaar asks for your camera and microphone. On Android it asks for both in one request.
You can also choose the stage layout before you start (Duo, Grid 4, 6 or 9, Spotlight, Mosaic or Headline), on mobile and on the web. The live starts with it: you in the first seat, the other seats empty. You can change it later, as described under Stage layouts.
As the host you can:
- See and answer join requests: accept a viewer to bring them on stage, or refuse.
- Pin a comment so it stays visible above the rest, or remove a comment you don't want up.
- Ban a viewer from your stream.
- Mute a guest, or remove them from the stage.
- Share a photo or clip into the stream from your gallery, with your camera as a small window over it.
Ending the stream ends it for everyone.
Pausing, and leaving without pausing
Pause stops only your camera and microphone. Guests on stage keep their camera, microphone and seat, and the show goes on. A pause lasts up to 15 minutes. Resume brings back only the tracks that were on before. If the 15 minutes run out, the live ends.
If you leave without pausing (the app closes, or you lose your connection), the live ends 2 minutes after you were last in the room. Come back within that time and it keeps going. Tubaar checks once a minute, so it ends at the first check after the 2 minutes: up to a minute late, never early. While you are paused this rule is off; after Resume you have 2 minutes to reconnect.
In a paid live, paused time does not count toward the 10 minutes.
Stage layouts
Tap Layout to choose how the stage looks:
- Free: seats fill in the order guests join.
- Locked: a fixed template where you choose who sits where. The templates are Duo, Grid 4, Grid 6, Grid 9, Spotlight 3, Spotlight 4, Mosaic 6, Headline 8 and Audio circle. Remove guests first if the template has fewer seats than people on stage.
Under Order on stage, move guests up or down, or tap Make 1st: the first guest gets the big card.
When a live ends
The host gets a recap of the live, which you can scroll through. See all your lives opens your live history.
My lives
My lives lists every live you've hosted. Open it from Settings → My lives, from See all your lives on a recap, or on the web from the clock button in the Live page header.
Each live shows its date and duration, peak viewers, Baars received and comments. Tap one to open its full recap. Only you can see your live history.
